In Burn Rate, players become dot-com CEOs trying to keep their startups afloat and lose money slower than opponents. Using skilled employees and action cards, they manage expenses while forcing rival companies into bankruptcy through wasteful projects and poor hires. The last surviving CEO with money wins the game by outlasting everyone else in the market.
