According to an article from 1984, Bakto is a "re-creation" of Sixteen Soldiers, a game in which two players, each with sixteen pieces, attempt to remove their opponent's pieces by jumping and capturing. The game is played with glass stones on an Alquerque board with four triangular extensions on each side. It is unclear from the article whether there are any differences between Bakto and the traditional game, however, since the article (perhaps mistakenly) mentions three colors of stones.
