The figures (1 king, 4 shooters, 8 cavalry, 12 footers) are placed on the game board in two opposing, outer rows of spaces marked by a red colored line, in any order. A dice is rolled alternately once. The meaning of the throw is as follows:
For throws with 1, 2, 3 or 4 points, the same number of any figures move or capture. (Each figure may only be used once in a roll.)
If the dice shows 5 points, then the king alone has to move and capture.
If 6 points are rolled the player loses a turn.
The pieces move or hit in all directions on all spaces.
Capturing is made by moving a piece onto the space of an opponent's piece. (The latter is then removed from the game). There is no obligation to capture. You are not allowed to move or capture across occupied spaces.
According to their kind, the figures move or capture as follows:
Footer: 1 or 2 spaces.
Cavalry: 1, 2 or 3 spaces.
Shooters: like the footers, 1 or 2 spaces.
The shooters can also shoot 1, 2 or 3 spaces. This means that they can take an opponent's piece that is in the direction of their capture without moving onto that piece's space. (This “hitting from a standing start” applies to one move.)
The King moves or captures 1 or 2 spaces. He can also shoot 1 or 2 spaces like the shooters.
The game is won if: the enemy king is captured, or your own king moves to the outermost row of the opponent's deployment space behind the colored line, or the enemy can no longer move.
