Stakeout is a light, noir detective themed game for 2-4 players.
Players are competing detectives, using their resources and wiles to successfully investigate Locations, Suspects, and Evidence. Players take turns rolling dice and committing them to Investigation cards. This represents the detectives spending time and resources to explore locations, question suspects, and examine evidence. When the dice requirement for an Investigation card has been met, the player claims that card, earns the associated points, and a bonus (based on the card type).
Players can also spend dice to go on a Stakeout or Wiretap.
Stakeout: Sometimes gathering a little intel can make all the difference. To go on a Stakeout, players discard dice to move their marker up (from 1 to 6) on the Stakeout track. On a subsequent turn, the marker can be removed to add a die of that value or lower to their dice pool.
To Wiretap, players spend 2 dice to draw 3 Investigation cards from the deck and choose 1 to keep as a Personal Lead. No other player may investigate this card.
Hot Tip cards provide opportunities for dice manipulation.
Motive cards provide end-game bonuses.
Vintage photographic art enhances the noir theme.
The game end is triggered when a player reaches 25 points. All players have one final turn and then points, including those from Motive cards, are totaled. The player with the most points is the winner.
