Figgie is a card game that was invented [by professional traders] at Jane Street in 2013. It was designed to simulate open-outcry commodities trading. Most of the skill in Figgie is in negotiating trades that benefit both the buyer and seller. Like in poker, your objective in Figgie is to make money over a series of hands.

—description from the publisher

Figgie is a turn-less, timed game of simultaneous action. Players call out offers to buy or sell and accept offers from others as they choose in an attempt to collect the most valuable cards. Chips are exchanged for cards to settle the action.

Figgie is played with a 40-card deck of four suits in an unequal distribution of 12, 10, 10, and 8 cards. An unusual feature is that the suit for each count in the distribution is unknown to players when a round begins. (In a face-to-face setting, this is managed with one or more prepared decks.) Figuring out the distribution is key, because the 12-card suit determines the payout at the end of each round.
