From the box cover: The game that's just like real baseball -- you actually make every play! Play fielders where you want! Send men after moving ball! Players field ball, run with it, throw to basemen who cover bags! You move batter, runners! Baseball know-how, strategy, luck! Fast-moving -- takes about 1/2 hour! Based on 2000 big league games! Scores just like in the majors! Sturdy board, 18 men, ball!

Basically, a spinner (1 to 6) is spun three times. The results of these spins determine the play -- a first spin "1" is a walk or a strikeout. Once the ball is in play and the location has been determined, the defensive player moves the fielders to the ball before arrows push the ball past. The offensive player moves the batter until the play is resolved.
