The Big One was published in Washington Gamer #92 (July-August 1985). It was billed on the cover as "World's Smallest Word War II Game!"

It is a very small game on World War II in Europe. Units are of five different types (infantry, mechanized, air, fleet, and garrison), although the first three also have doubled-strength versions. Units can move as far as they want but cannot move through enemy units or stack with friendly units of the same type.

Production points are earned each turn which may be saved or spent on units for the next turn. The Allies have to produce units separately but the Axis have combined production.

Minor countries can be attacked but are then controlled by the opposing player, and there are some rules for historical accuracy about which countries can be attacked when.

The winner is the player controlling the most production factors after 10 turns.

This should not be confused with The Big One.
