Princess & Werewolf (2023)

姫と人狼 (Princess & Werewolf) is a werewolf-style game from Japan which re-implements Night Princess from 2015 into a broader game design.

The players are either in the Red or Blue team, and must identify and defeat the other team's leader (the Princess) to win. If a non-leader is defeated, the attacking team loses. Players have secret roles in the game, and use item cards to attack on opposing character, adding a token which gives a clue to their own identity. Players also have sword and shield tokens to use, and witch tokens.

The new game differs by having each player run a number of characters in their team. This allows broad gameplay with just two players. Further, players do not start the game knowing who their allies are, and the characters include a werewolf who is a traitor to the team. If the werewolf can identify the princess, they win outright.

When the game was first produced at the Tokyo Game Market in December 2023, pre-orders received some bonus cards:

Hidden Princess - This character allows the leader to be switch amongst the other characters. The Hidden princess is more powerful than the normal Princess, and enables the game to played longer.

Cursed Werewolf - If the cursed werewolf identifies the opposing Princess, the game does not end, and the team's leader may switch to another character.
