Octad, "the strategic game of number-sequences," is a 2-player game played on an 8×8 grid. Each player Starts with 16 chips, comprising two sets of identical chips numbered 1 through 8. Chips are placed on the grid at the beginning of the game, along the two rows closest to the player.

Chips move one space in each turn. Odd numbers move diagonally; even numbers move orthogonally.

The object of the game is to create simple numerical sequences on your opponent's side of the board while trying to stop your opponent from doing the same on your side of the board.

A sequence is a straight-line chain of at least three numbers. The number chain can be set up in any straight line, orthogonally or diagonally. Sequences are declared and cannot afterward be altered by addition or subtraction of a number. But additional chains can be formed at an angle to declared sequences.

Play ends when a total of three sequences has been completed between the two players. The player with the highest score wins.
