boardgame
Um dyar
"Um dyar" is a traditional manqala game played by the Hassaniya-speaking population in western Mauritania, often by young women and men for courtship. Played in sand or on wooden boards with two rows of holes, players sow seeds counterclockwise. Capturing occurs by landing an even number of seeds. The game ends when all seeds are captured, and the player with the most wins. Matches continue until one player loses all their holes.
