This card game features major cities in Franconia, a German region rich in history and (only) politically part of Bavaria. Cities include Nürnberg, Würzburg, Bayreuth, Bamberg, and Rothenburg, among others.
The object of the game is to collect melds of cities by winning cards from your opponent in classical quartet showdowns.
Franken-Quartett is a variant of a Quartett game, with a splash of Top Trumps thrown in. Each player has 5 cards of different towns. each card has informations about population, size, founding year, et c. One active player say a category and 'most' or 'fewest', and both players simultaneously play one card. both reveal their cards, and the player with the card in the chosen category that is the declared 'most' or 'fewest' gets both cards. The aim is to collect four cards of one city -- one Quartett.
The player with three Quartetts wins.
