In 1592, Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded Korea with some 150,000 troops. His objective was conquering Joseon Korea and eventually, Ming China. Within three months, the Japanese captured Hanseong, the capital of Korea, and Pyongyang, completing the occupation of large portions of the Korean Peninsula.

Ming China saw this invasion as a challenge to the Chinese Imperial tributary system and sent troops to Korea. The joint Korean-Chinese offensive at land at sea forced the Japanese army to withdraw from Pyongyang to the south, where the Japanese continued to occupy Hanseong and most of the southern regions. The Ming and Joseon armies tried to advance into the south, but were halted by the Japanese army at the Battle of Byeokjegwan in January 1593.

This game is a simulation of that battle. Published in Command Japan #178
