Children of the Sun is a wargame covering two battles of Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, which were significant events in South American history.
1) Ayacucho, 1824
Tired of running, Sucre's 5,000+ army meets the 9,000+ army of the Spanish Viceroy on ground of the Viceroy's choosing.
2) Pichincha, 1822
Sucre's army flanks a strong Spanish position by moving across the slopes of a volcano towards Quito.
This game is the first of a projected series titled "Patriots & Royalists". Each scenario is a grand tactical game with units representing battalions of infantry, squadrons or regiments of cavalry and a battery for artillery. Each strength point in the game represents 50-70 men and each game turn representing 20 minutes of time.
Components:
Two, 17" x 22" maps, one for each battle, as well as over 260 double sided counters, rules book, a Player Handbook, and various game play aids and charts.
