You find yourself lost in the woods, wanting nothing more than a soft bed to sleep in (but not too soft) and a nice bowl of hot porridge (but not too hot). Being lost in the woods wouldn't be so bad, though, if you were alone, but you're not... Somewhere in these woods, looking for you, are three apex predators (but not too apex).
Tanglewoods Gold is one deck in the new trilogy of Tanglewoods decks for the solo-player 20 Strong system. Each deck in the 20 Strong series is built on a basic set of rules and plays using a single set of 20 dice (as well as one single chip). However each deck adds unique rules and twists to the basic system, resulting in each individual deck playing very differently from each other.
The object of a game of 20 Strong is to progress through a shuffled deck of cards, each card bearing a unique challenge. This challenge could be in the form of an enemy, a unique scenario, or some other requirement. Challenges usually require a certain number of successes to complete, which you earn by rolling a set of 17 dice with varying odds of hitting (these dice, along with 3 adjustable stat dice, make up the “20” in 20 Strong).
