This is a three player game in which players try to collect sets of four cards. The object of the game is to avoid being left with the Hades card when the game finishes and thus being banished to his dark kingdom. When Tartarus begins, all thirteen cards are dealt to the three players. Play proceeds clockwise. Each player may swap any card (except Hades) for the face-up card or give any card they like "including Hades) to the player on their left, taking a card in return. The aim is to make a set of four cards: Zeus, Hera, Artemis, Apollo; Ares, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Hermes; or Athena, Poseidon, Demeter, Dionysus. The first person to make a set calls out "Olympus!" The loser is then the person who is left with Hades.
