The wolf starts in the middle of the board whereas the 17 sheep occupy two neighboring sections. The wolf begins moving from point to point, forward or backward in any direction. His task is to take away his opponent's sheep, which is possible if the sheep are not kept together and there is an empty spot next to them, which the wolf then occupies by jumping over the sheep, which is then removed from the board.
