Locus was advertised in Scientific American as "The Peer of Chess", but it actually turned out to be more closely related to polyominoes.
The pieces are polyomino blocks which cover 2-4 spaces. The goal of the game is to create as large as possible "connected set" of pieces. The rules provide for adding new pieces either on the board or covering your opponents pieces.
