Time Splicers occurs concurrently with Cities of Venue: Lost Contact and is the story of exactly what the catastrophe was on Earth that caused it to lose contact with Venus. It is 2222, and Earth’s worst-case scenario for The Singularity (when AI becomes self-aware) has happened. The Global Artificial Intelligence has cut off all contact with the solar colonies and has decided that, for humanity’s survival, humans must be enslaved. Players represent Earth’s last hope in the form of Time Splicers – specialists who will travel back through time to change humanity’s trajectory and keep the The Singularity from occurring. However, the AI detects this threat and splices the timeline into parallel paths, all leading to the same conclusion. As Time Splicers, players must collapse these diverging timelines and collect the necessary time crystals to prevent The Singularity and help humanity prevail. Players play cards to collapse Timelines in various ways and collect Time Crystals to win. The game ends immediately when a player finds their seventh Time Crystal, indicating they are the winner. —description from the designer
